I gave a presentation on May 12 to the Piccolo Senato del Rettorato on the LBTC and our incubator, technology transfer and business counseling center. Present were Professor Pier Foscolo, Marcello Alecci (director of Tech Transfer), Maria Di Benedetto of Electrical Engineering, Antonello Sotgiu Director of Department of Magnetic Imaging, Anna Tozzi, Pro Rector. The counsel was attended by about 15 faculty and administrators. Their interest was in commercializing university research and in spinning off companies. They currently have 9 businesses licensing university technology. I visited on of the companies that is developing MRI technology and very intricate imaging capabilities. We are going to assist them in setting up a incubator and initally a virtual incubator. I will be lecturing to student groups next week to discuss entrepreneurship and the LBTC Student Incubator. In the afternoon, I accompanied the Bulgarian visiting group to a village in the mountains of L'Aquila to see a unique tourism development in a town that was very depressed and almost abandoned.
